GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES - Reviews alpha census daily and visits in-house patients; collectsestimated patient liable amounts; works closely with outside agencies to ensure patient coverage.

SUPERVISES - N/A Shift: Mon-Fri, 8a-4 30p, hourly some weekendsDUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:\u2022 Visit all self-paying patients in-house\u2022 Provide estimates to patients and/or physicians as requested\u2022 Generate insurance verification and precertification reports daily and follow up with case managementand insurance verification departments as appropriate\u2022 Post ER and Patient Access deposits into PA system\u2022 Contact insurance companies for patient benefits and precertification requirements\u2022 Review alpha census daily for visits exceeding the original length of precertification and work closelywith utilization review for concurrent certification\u2022 Assist patients with payment arrangements and charity applications\u2022 Work closely with outside agencies in helping patients apply for Medicaid and state aid\u2022 Maintain insurance files regarding updates and changes\u2022 Forward problems or concerns to Patient Access Manager\u2022 Enter pertinent insurance information into CPCS and prorate account\u2022 Enter notes into the collections system for all patient encounters\u2022 Maintain professional image and implement excellent customer service to customers\u2022 Complete financial analysis and collect estimated patient liabilities\u2022 Follow up with patients for necessary signatures if they were incomplete at time of hospitalization\u2022 Consistently receive and receipt payments from patients for hospital services in accordance withinternal cash control procedures\u2022 Interact with Patient Account Services Insurance Verification Department in establishing up-frontpayment arrangements with patients\u2022 Attends in-service presentations, and completes mandatory education week, including but not limitedto, infection control, patient safety, quality improvements, MSDS and OSHA standards.\u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of occurrence reporting system and utilizes system to report potential patientsafety issues.\u2022 Practice and adhere to the \u201cCode of Conduct\u201d philosophy and \u201cMission and Value Statement\u201d\u2022 Other duties as assigned #ParallonBCOMKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES\u2022 Communication - communicates clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing\u2022 Customer orientation - establishes and maintains long-term customer relationships, building trust andrespect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations\u2022 Interpersonal skills - able to work effectively with other employees, patients and external parties\u2022 PC skills - demonstrates proficiency in PC applications as required\u2022 Policies & Procedures - demonstrates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies,procedures and systems\u2022 Basic skills - able to perform basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile figures, punctuateproperly, spell correctly and transcribe accurately AGE OF PATIENTS SERVED:This position requires competence in assessment, treatment, and/or care for the age groups indicated. The staffmember must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical,psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age for the patients served in his/herassigned service area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education,training or experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS - Requires prolonged sitting, some bending,stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate akeyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearingand eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Requires lifting papers or boxes upto 25 pounds occasionally. Work is performed in an office environment. Work may be stressful at times.Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Staff must remain flexible and available toprovide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations.
