MMGY Global has an immediate position available for a Senior Media Planner in our Kansas City, MO office. 

This is a full time position responsible for managing integrated media plans across a portfolio of hotel and destination accounts. MMGY media team members possess strong integrity and drive to deliver maximum value for our client’s media investments. Knowledge across digital, traditional, social and B2B channels is critical to the success of this role. An inquiring mind, positive attitude and desire to learn are also key as the world of integrated media is constantly evolving and the MMGY Media Department prides itself on being at the forefront of media innovation and ingenuity. A strong desire to contribute to an ongoing dialogue about the role and value of specific media channels and tactics is a valued characteristic of our team members.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Research
    • Utilizing research tools for client recommendations, agency research and new business presentations
  • Planning
    • Understanding and incorporating client background and marketing objectives into client media plans
    • Independently researching, planning, presenting and supervising the implementation of client media schedules across digital, out-of-home, print, radio, television and B2B media channels
  • Buying
    • Working with Media Buyer to create and process all media RFPs and ensuring negotiations yield media buys supporting campaign objectives
    • Working with Media Buyer to ensure campaigns comply with budget and invoicing requirements
    • Monitoring performance of client campaigns in collaboration with Media Buyer and Media Coordinator and making recommendations to optimize media performance
  • Tagging and trafficking
    • Understanding basic 3rd party ad serving tools
    • Working with Media Buyer and Media Coordinator to ensure proper implementation
  • Reporting
    • Checking client reporting for accuracy, pacing and trends
    • Supplementing client reporting insights
    • Preparing client wrap reporting
  • Team collaboration
    • Leading team status meetings
    • Providing oversight of team members’ calendars, workflow prioritization and deliverables
    • Collaborating internally across channels
  • Identifying vendor meetings to ensure department maintains broad knowledge of opportunities and innovations in the media industry
  • Monitoring digital trends for assistance in strategic and creative development
  • Contributing input to team member appraisals.

Additional Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Staying informed of best practices with regard to media planning, placement, tracking and reporting         
  • Establishing professional and productive relationships within agency, media team and vendors
  • Providing day-to-day supervision and mentorship of more junior staff members

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum six years media planning and buying experience in an advertising agency. Agency experience must include the following:
    • Media planning and buying in the following channels:
      • Digital
      • Out-of-home
      • Print
      • Radio
      • Social
      • Television                                                                          
    • Media buying in the following platforms:
      • Ads Manager
      • DoubleClick
      • Strata
    • Media research with the following tools:
      • comScore
      • Kantar
      • eMarketer
      • MRI
      • Scarborough
      • SQAD
  • Experience with the following considered a plus:
    • Travel and/or tourism industry

Skills Needed:

  • Detailed-oriented, attention to detail extremely important
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working on multiple tasks and projects at once
  • Resourcefulness; strong ability to look for answers and solutions
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing or communications
