The Shared Data Platform team builds the systems that manage and serve Marin’s enterprise data. These include:
Transactional data (OLTP) using HBase and Phoenix
Historical facts (OLAP) using Presto
Acquisition of campaign tracking data
Tools and services to support reporting and management for data acquisition and movement
These systems enable both off-line analytics and online customer facing systems. We value the ability to collaborate on engineering goals. All of our work must meet a high standard for scalability, durability and continuous service. Performance analysis and system tuning are fundamental to our work. The team serves as consultants to other team about how best to accomplish their own goals. We must work with the Executive, Product, Analytics and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and to support their data infrastructure requirements.
Design, build, and unit test object-oriented software in a collaborative environment
Interface with 3rd party APIs and abstract out core concepts
Passion for developing efficient, testable and well-documented code
BS/MS in Computer Science or related discipline
3 years software development experience
Demonstrated competence using scalable distributed processing frameworks; experience with Spark/Scala at scale is especially welcome
Ability to examine data workflow processes to identify and resolve problems with correctness or performance
Familiarity with relational data principles
Knowledge of components in the Hadoop milieu, including: HBase, Presto, Phoenix, Kafka, Oozie, Spark
Practical experience with modern source code repository and build management systems
Ability to communicate engineering design and code reviews in writing and in conversation
Desire to work in a collaborative environment
Knowledge of advertising technology is valuable
This is an on-site, full-time salaried position located in our Portland, Oregon office. Compensation depends on prior experience.
