ACS Publications products include more than 55 scholarly journals, C&EN magazine, and ACS eBooks. ACS Publications is based in Washington, D.C., and has offices and remote employees throughout the world.
The Sales, Marketing and Product Innovation department is responsible for developing marketing strategies and implementing sales programs for the ACS Publications Division's product lines. Inherent in this is analyzing all results and recommending future direction for the marketing and positioning of ACS Publications' products within the chemical/scientific community marketplace. Key constituents include institutional librarian administrators, corporate librarians, authors, reviewers, ACS members, editors, and the range of end-users (subscribers and non-subscribers).
As part of its mission, ACS Publications produces C&EN, the flagship publication sent in both print and digital formats to over 150,000 ACS members. Printed each week, C&EN is consistently ranked by members as the most important benefit of membership from ACS. C&EN also has several revenue-based programs including lead generation products, C&ENjobs recruitment job-board, classifieds, digital and native advertising, custom publishing and event guide products. The ACS Publications Advertising Sales team is responsible for the sales and marketing of all advertising products and promoting C&EN's brand to organizations in the U.S. and overseas. Inherent in this is producing digital and print sales collateral, outreach materials, supporting the sales group with research, presentations and conference planning, managing circulation audits and statements. This includes print and digital sales communications with sponsors, proposal coordination and creation, ad trafficking and production of print and digital products.
Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, C&EN, the Revenue marketing manager, is responsible for leading the planning and administration of marketing campaigns for the portfolio of advertising products for C&EN and ACS Publications. The C&EN Marketing Manager will support business development objectives by implementing strategic and tactical marketing and advertising campaigns through a digital first approach; analyze sales and prospect engagement data; develop, maintain, and distribute relevant promotional materials, and execute content marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, detail-oriented and possess superior organizational, problem solving and time management skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Develop and execute integrated marketing plans for C&EN that is revenue (B2B) focused. Work closely with senior marketing manager on the overall plan, and collaborate with peers to develop sales collateral and implement product specific campaigns in support of revenue targets.
Evaluate, develop, and improve value propositions and competitive positioning for advertising sales products and packages. Assist in creating and launching email-marketing campaigns in Eloqua, including writing copy for all materials. Manage design process and vendors for media kits and sales sheets, email templates. Interacts with advertising sales team to provide sales presentations and materials.
Execute content marketing initiative and monthly advertiser eNewsletters and blog, as a way to provide thought leadership and promote products, and engagement with the scientific marketing community. Serve as the team lead and subject matter expert of marketing automation platform, Eloqua within the advertising sales and marketing group.
Oversee execution of event marketing including tradeshows, barter agreements, and advertiser event strategies within the overall revenue-marketing plan. Ensure event focus and materials are aligned with strategic sales efforts. The event-marketing framework will include identifying stakeholders and managing timelines, documenting necessary event-marketing elements, coordinating participant prizes/giveaways and related follow up activities, and conducting post-event analysis.
College degree or equivalent experience or formal training 1-3 years of marketing and advertising experience; Familiarity with marketing automation software like Eloqua; CMS such as WordPress, basic HTML experience required. Agency experience, familiarity with social media, SEO tactics, ecommerce marketing, and design software is a plus. Experience with CRM technology (SalesForce) and Ad serving preferred. Strong familiarity with excel and analytics.
Must have strong written and communication skills and be techy savvy. Candidate should have excellent organizational skills with ability to run multiple projects and meet tight deadlines while staying attentive to customer requirements and needs. Available for up to 10% domestic or international travel.
