The Philanthropy Copywriter researches, develops, writes and edits personalized narratives in digital and print format that accurately transform complex material into readable and compelling fundraising content on behalf of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Creates unique, compelling, and engaging copy Develops copy and content in a manner that drives donor response Meets SDZGu2019s fundraising goals across a variety of communication channels Develops copy for a variety of needs Writes content to a wide-range of audience types Edits content and proofreads a variety of communication types Participates as a key member of the Development departmentu2019s editorial team Conducts research and interviews as necessary Understands emerging trends and best practices in philanthropy and nonprofit organization Ensures timely and successful fundraising results Exemplifies the highest standard of work ethics Adheres to all SDZG and department policies and practices Practices the GRRREAT Customer Service Standards REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES Creates unique, compelling, and engaging copy that is clearly written, drives donor response Meets SDZGu2019s fundraising goals across a variety of communication channels, including: email, web, social media, direct mail, and printed publications Develops copy for a variety of needs, including: added-gift appeals, sustainer appeals, digital ads, online content, newsletters, event invitations, annual reports, and donor letters Writes powerful and effective content to a wide-range of audience types, including existing members, direct response prospects, monthly sustainers, mid-range donor clubs, as well as major gift donors and SDZGu2019s planned giving constituents Edits content and proofreads a variety of communication types as a key member of the Development departmentu2019s editorial team Conducts research and interviews as necessary to develop accurate, factual, and powerful copy that motivates SDZGu2019s supporters to take action Understands emerging trends and best practices in philanthropy and nonprofit communication to ensure timely and successful fundraising results Assures proper content, grammar, spelling, style, tone, and quality of assigned tasks and projects Composes correspondence and completes special projects as needed Follows strategic direction set by management of the Development Departmentu2019s Membership Programs Division, in coordination with other participating San Diego Zoo Global departments ANCILLARY FUNCTIONS Performs related duties and responsibilities as required. QUALIFICATIONS Examples of representative qualifications include Bacheloru2019s degree in communication, journalism or related field and/or equivalent specialized training; examples of equivalent specialized training include professional experience in copywriting, editing, and content marketing; experience developing and crafting copy for nonprofit fundraising, advocacy, and target-driven donor response preferred; valid California driver license.
