Copywriter – Upwise

Role Value Proposition:
A key member of the Upwise Content Strategy Team, the Copywriter is responsible for writing and editing all copy across the Upwise experience, working closely with the Product, Marketing and Design teams to brainstorm ideas, create concepts, and develop messaging. The Copywriter will focus on ensuring all Upwise copy is clear, concise and persuasive to help bring the product strategy to life for the user, serving as a steward for the unique Upwise brand voice to stakeholders. Responsibilities also include developing strong relationships with key partners across the Upwise leadership team and beyond, including Marketing, Product Managers, Legal/Compliance, DevOps teams, other BAs, other program management resources, MetLife’s Global Sustainability team, etc.
In addition, the Copywriter will be responsible for supporting the Content Strategy leadership team on Sustainability strategies, with focus on DEI initiatives and environment/climate projects that can be delivered via Upwise.
The key responsibilities for this role include the following:
Write clear, concise, and conversational copy appropriate to drive engagement for Upwise audience
Edit and proofread all content supplied by partners for voice, tone and grammar
Work with stakeholders and reviewers to keep the brand voice consistent and optimize engagement
Develop and execute creative for everything from in app copy to social posts and email to fully integrated campaigns
Collaborate closely across full Upwise leadership team including Marketing, Product Managers, Designers, Legal/Compliance etc. to deliver copy
Find new ways to tell our Upwise brand story—generating ideas for how branded content can come to life across multiple channels
Support efforts to activate new forms of content to support the app (i.e. articles, guides, infographics, animations, calculators, videos, etc.)
Partner closely with Content Strategy and Marketing teams to ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for user experience and engagement
Adhere to editorial and compliance standards, including voice, tone, perspective, and copy and sourcing guidelines
Integrate visual elements (including video, graphics, and images) to produce comprehensive and actionable content across the app
Understand the Upwise customer journey to inform content opportunities, ultimately removing barriers/friction to user conversion and engagement
Provide support to Content Strategy leadership team on Sustainability strategies, including DEI initiatives
Serve as the lead for other assigned Upwise initiatives and provides leadership and management through deployment on assigned projects
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
The position requirements for this role include the following:
Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills
Ability to embrace the Upwise brand voice and tone guidelines and bring to life throughout copy
Passion for understanding the goals and objectives of the Upwise experience and collaborate to achieve them through creative, strategic communications
Experience ideating for integrated campaigns and new product launches
Strong competency for collaboration, with experience partnering with product managers, designers and art directors
Demonstrated experience with testing copy and iterating based on results and feedback
Strong research skills
Excellent planning and organization skills
Accomplished change management leader, able to operate effectively in a highly matrix environment
Strong project management skills
Ability to work as an effective partner with various management levels and across functional areas
Knowledge of financial services or personal finance a plus
A minimum of 5-7 years writing copy for a brand in an in-house creative department
Related work experience in US financial services/insurance industry preferred
Bachelor’s degree with English/Advertising/Journalism/Marketing focus
Undergraduate degree required, MBA or other advanced degree preferred

The wage range for this position specific to Connecticut and Colorado is $95k - $118k/year. You may be also eligible for the MetLife Annual Variable Incentive Plan (AVIP).
