McCann Detroit is looking to hire a Cross Channel Digital Strategist for a 3 – 4 month freelance assignment. The Cross-Channel Digital Strategist will work closely with Content Strategists, Platform Strategists (mobile, emerging, wired, and social), Brand Planners, Account Directors, Project Management, Media Planners, Technology / Media Partners, Creative, and Clients in the formulation of their strategies and plans, so an ability to build strong relationships is key. Primary functional components include: developing experience strategies across and for each channel centered on consumer needs and behaviors, integrated communications plans and messaging strategies that assure all channels are working together to product desired business results.
Develop consultative client relationships providing strategic guidance, compelling POV’s and insights.
Work with clients and agency partners to define business objectives, goals and requirements.
Work with clients and agency partners to define communication objectives, plans and associated metrics.
Consult with teams on the implementation of tactics, technologies and coordination of efforts across teams.
Facilitate groups both formally and informally in channel planning and ideation.
Consumer Experience Strategy Development
Define how target consumers behave across all media and channels (traditional OLA, e-mail, site, social).
Define channel roles for content strategy (what to say, where).
Cultivate consumer insights through data/information analysis.
Aggregate and interpret data to form alignment opportunities throughout the communications ecosystem.
Work with media and analytics groups to forecast the anticipated return on investment for the project.
Understand the high-level roles and limitations of websites, mobile, digital OOH, online media, CRM, shopper, social, and other emerging digital platforms in the construction of experience plans.
Define consumer experience for owned channels – email, site, social, etc.
Assess industry drivers, the competitive environment, technologies, and identify trends.
Build business cases for projects based on business objectives and expected consumer responses.
Analyze data, determine insights, and develop recommendations to optimize the experience/messaging.
Work with the User Experience Architects in translating business and consumer insights into experience maps and actionable tactics.
Other Responsibilities & Primary Deliverables
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Accountable for the following primary deliverables under guidance of the CSO and Brand Planning Directors: consumer-centric strategies, cross-channel communications strategies, ideation briefs and support documentation, experience models, experience maps, high-level communications plans/calendars, high-level messaging strategies, objectives, goals and requirements, business case/situation analyses, POVs, and research plans.
Complete knowledge of websites and all things associated therein and with including SEO, SEM, mobile.
Experience in evaluating websites.
Expert in digital marketing strategies and tactics.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate and lead teams.
Understanding of the creative process and an ability to provide strategic creative direction.
Understanding of market research, consumer behaviors, user-centric design, direct metrics, digital metrics and social media tools and processes.
Knowledge-driven person who excels at knowing/applying macro business and industry drivers, consumer insights, emerging consumer trends, and gaps within the competitive environment.
Ability to combine vision with strong creative and tactical planning.
Demonstrated experience in developing dynamic presentations in support of strategies.
Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation.
Highly self-motivated and excellent attention to detail.
Minimum of 8 years of digital marketing experience.
Solid experience leading strategy projects in a complex business and marketing environment.
Background in consumer-driven businesses as well as B2B, automotive industry experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, advertising or economics, or equivalent experience desirable.
