Against that backdrop Humana is building a best-in-class Consumer Marketing organization to drive profitable membership growth across diverse lines of insurance. We are seeking a seasoned B2B/B2C marketer to lead our Commercial Group Marketing team. The Director, Commercial Group Marketing will serve as a primary business partner to the Group line of business.  This individual will have oversight of marketing strategy development in close collaboration with business partners, and will drive the planning and implementation of integrated marketing programs. The Director will be expected to participate in the leadership of the business segment as a key consultant, developing a broad view of the business while delivering successful marketing strategies that meet the business challenges. 

The Group segment is undergoing a transformation, and the marketing leader will play a critical role in redefining how Humana is known in the market and creating and implementing new go-to-market strategies.  With this transformation and changing consumer dynamics, the segment is far from static and requires a marketing approach that can evolve to meet the needs of employers and small business owners today. 

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage successful, on-going development and delivery of marketing strategies and plans that drive and align marketing initiatives to meet defined business objectives.

Identify actionable insights on key segments, customers, trends in business environments, competitive position, and product portfolio offerings.

Lead the creation of always on marketing communications and solutions to drive successful acquisition of new customers

Oversee and manage all marketing strategy, planning, plan execution, financial management and measurement for the Segment Marketing team.

Lead, motivate, inspire and engage a team of ~15 experienced and motivated Marketing professionals.

Partner with and leverage skilled marketing professionals in other teams as Subject Matter Experts to provide the optimal marketing answers to business challenges; Collaborate within broader Consumer organization to ensure consistency within market strategies, communications and messaging.

The role will report to the Enterprise Vice President of Marketing

Proven experience in helping a business change their model or transform audience perceptions/expectations

Ability to introduce and create change and/or urgency; perseverance to overcome disruption and barriers; ability to work through tumultuous or ambiguous scenarios successfully.

Good collaborative ability to partner with the business segment and other internal partners

Proven experience leading a high performing team and a record of success in developing team members for advancement into roles of increasing responsibility.

Experience managing external vendor relationships

Marketing Qualifications

Passion for the consumer/customer and for delivering best practice solutions to business challenges.

Strong business acumen…more than “just” a marketing mindset – understanding down and upstream impacts

Excellence in B2B and B2C marketing, as well as marketing through third party distribution partners

Experience bringing marketing best practices as well as marketing innovation into their company/teams

Strong digital and direct response marketing experience; broad set of experience across the marketing mix

Role Essentials

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising or a related degree, MBA a plus

Possess extensive and progressively responsible experience focused on brand development and driving and executing winning B2B and consumer marketing programs. Experience in sales/agent distribution channel marketing a plus

Excellent foundation in marketing fundamentals and best practices, with understanding and demonstrated experience in complex or regulated consumer purchases.

Experience developing and managing a team of marketing professionals.
