The Restaurant Catering & Event Sales Coordinator is responsible for establishing and maintaining good relationships with customers based on their assigned territory. They must build trust and act as support for prospects, ensuring they lead to potential future sales. As a member of our team, The Catering & Event Sales Coordinator will use their strong interpersonal skills to provide service and support to their customers as needed, which may include coordinating with other departments.
Travel within sales territory to meet prospects and customers.
Conduct calls and face-to-face meetings with customers daily
Maintain records of all sales leads and/or customer accounts
Educate on and sell the company’s products or services to customers within your given territory
Build and maintain relationships with customers, Management Team, Catering Sales Team, and hourly Team Members
Accountable for client satisfaction by ensuring Doherty service standards are met and clients’ needs and/or concerns are responded to and alleviated in a courteous and timely manner
Manage and interpret customer requirements- speaking with clients to understand, anticipate and meet their needs
Monitor the company’s industry competitors, new products, and market conditions
Work closely with marketing department to help build the brand; attend and participate in marketing and private events
Meet personal and team sales targets
Forecast sales, develop “out of the box” sales strategies/models and evaluate their effectiveness
Generate reports and provide feedback to management
Ensures integrity of sales and client data by documenting information in Catering Logs on a daily basis
Responsible for fielding inquires/ taking messages for the location event manager and General Manager in their absence
Attend events and private parties on-site; coordinate with Operations, staff, and guests to ensure set up and execution of successful events, provide support for and work events as needed
Caters to client’s service needs; takes orders, delivers food and beverage, adheres to special requests, clears service items and processes payments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; displaying etiquette, professionalism, and an enthusiastic “can-do” attitude
Microsoft Office proficient
Knowledge of advertising and sales promotion techniques
Ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of constituencies (hourly, mgmt., and support staff )
Demonstrated superior customer service skills; proven track record of handling difficult customer complaints
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Is self-motivated; able to work with limited supervision
Knowledge and understanding of Human Resources policies and best practices as they relate to operations, P&L, HRIS, and cost control
Full knowledge of menu items, party packages, and available upgrades
Knowledge of restaurant Operations and procedures; able to execute hosting and serving during events while maintaining excellent guest satisfaction
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and work positively under pressure
Meet grooming standards; maintain during shift
Ability to verbally communicate and write in English
Intermediate math skills, ability to calculate figures, amounts, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of mathematics relating to financial calculations
Possess required certifications such as Food Handlers Card, Serve Safe Certification, etc. as required by state law
Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the operational production process in order to protect restaurant business while building and delivering on catering sales
Must be 18 years of age or older, possess valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation
Employment eligibility to work in the United States required
Experience in restaurant and/or catering operations
Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or 2+ years of proven sales or marketing experience
