Department Description:
The Graduate School of Management (GSM) Marketing and Communications team has a mission to communicate the School's messages through interactive media, across multiple channels. We coordinate these communications across platforms to reach our audiences. Our efforts could be seen on our web site, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and other sites and channels. Our goals are to increase engagement with prospective students and other stakeholders through a variety of media, communications and events to develop interest, active involvement and relationships that benefit the School and share knowledge.

Job Summary:
Under direction of the Director of Web Marketing, and in close coordination with the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications and other members of the Marcom team, the Social Media Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day management of Graduate School of Management's social media channels. Assists the Director of Web Marketing in developing strategy, and developing plans to implement the strategy on an ongoing basis.
Assist the Marketing and Communications, Admissions and Executive Education teams in developing overall social media strategy, social media governance, and content strategy and in the development of plans to implement the strategy across Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and other channels. Assist faculty and other staff in their social media efforts and outreach.
Assist the Director of Web Marketing in developing enterprise-level tracking of social media performance. Responsible for ongoing performance monitoring, reporting and tactical adjustments as necessary to meet objectives.
Coordinate content marketing campaigns, storytelling and graphics with Director of Web Marketing and new Multimedia Specialist (video and photography) to boost engagement across social channels.
Participate in University social media group for sharing of best practices, general coordination and ongoing social media training. Physical Demands:
Work at computer for extended periods of time.
Lift objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Work Environment:

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
BS/BA degree in advertising, communications, marketing, public relations, or equivalent education and work experience.
Knowledge and understanding of social media channels and their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, and other emerging social media channels), and how to best utilize each channel.
Experience analyzing and reporting performance in various social media channels, and making necessary adjustments and optimizations in order to meet stated objectives.
Experience systematically monitoring conversations and trends in social media, assessing opportunities for the advancement of a brand's reputation.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and make adjustments as priorities shift.
Experience using interpersonal skills to effectively develop relationships with internal stakeholders in order to develop a steady stream of inbound story ideas, coordinate projects as well as influence social media activities at the University level.
Communication skills including strong verbal, writing, and editing skills.
Experience building social media plans, organizing projects and teams, and executing plans with key performance indicators. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working within an ecosystem of related social media channels, particularly within higher education institutions.
Experience maintaining an editorial calendar for multiple social media channels.
Experience creating and identifying quality social media content related to a variety of academic and research topics.
Knowledge of and skill to understand emerging social media channels.
Experience applying judgment and discretion when working with highly sensitive and confidential information.
General knowledge of digital audio and video recording equipment, experience operating such equipment and experience with digital audio and video editing software.
