The Digital Copywriter will develop and write web site content. They facilitate the quality assurance of promotional and content updates to the site, coordinating with other e-commerce team members and merchants. This position delivers on the outlined business strategies across all digital views for their assigned area/category. They leverage and convert brand and store messaging to suit the online channel. Work in and around our tools and templates to determine the best possible shopping experience for customers. They have a voice in the customer experience in their categories making sure that the pages are consistent and on brand. They interact with other BestBuy.com content teams via role groups and collaborate with business team members for weekly promotional and project activity; as well as other interested parties and third-party content providers.
Key Responsibilities:
Functional and Technical Knowledge
Conceptualize, research, write and edit copy that meets **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. standards in communicating to internal and external audiences (accuracy, tone, style, brand and business objectives, and grammar).
Take initiative in generating ideas and suggestions on content strategy and solutions and other aspects of the user experience.
Understands user needs, business goals, and the experience flow for each project.
Leverage and convert brand and store messaging to suit the online channel.
Standardize material and requests from a variety of sources (including vendors, retail, stores, and legal) into customer-friendly messaging.
Adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Solid working knowledge of HTML and web content management systems.
Write SEO-friendly copy partnering with the search team and demonstrated working knowledge of SEO best practices.
Solid understanding of best web writing practices.
Stay current on the latest trends in online communications, usability and search optimization.
Business and Industry Expertise
Consult with business teams and function as a Subject Matter Expert for copy needs and usage.
Builds collaborative partnerships with business leads and cross-functional partners and demonstrates category expertise.
Utilizes analytics and reporting to evaluate performance on experiences and provide recommendations on low/no value work.
Interpret campaign style guides and vendor requirements, bringing them together into engaging customer experiences.
Ensure consistency with existing **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. brand standards, templates, and style guides.
Ability to assess web analytics or AB testing into actionable improvements to the user experience.
Understand current web trends, usability and standards, along with the tools and techniques for online experience development.
Be immersed in ongoing digital news and stay informed of ever-changing best practices.
Drive best practice sharing with teams.
Project Leadership
As the E-Commerce digital creative expert, shares site standards, brand guidelines, widget usage, and best practices of UI/UX with cross-functional partners to plan for and deliver financial goals.
Partners with other team members on cross-category initiatives and actively participates in role group meetings.
Support current processes and proactively identify areas for improvement
Provide training assistance on systems and/or processes with Digital Content team and cross-functional partners (as appropriate) to support content needs
Develop category content management plans and processes for new initiatives
Proactively work with PM partner(s) to identify risks or challenges within the category that may impact work being completed on time and source solutions accordingly.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
5 years writing for the Web
2 years working knowledge of HTML
2 years working with Content Management tools, page publishing tools and/or other web tools
Understanding of SEO best practices
Understanding of UX principles and best Web writing practices
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
