If you look at the advertising industry and look even closer at the advertising professional you will notice allot of similar characteristics from department to department. The following are very important skills to have when entering into an advertising career. Leadership skills especially if you are looking to get into a management position within the advertising industry it is important to show you can lead a team. Every part of the advertising industry requires you have superior communication skills verbally both in person and over the telephone as well as written. It is important that you can articulate the advertising design and concept to the creative team as well as the client. Communication skills are so important in this industry for the reason that everything is so deadline oriented if one small detail is not communicated properly the deadline could be missed and client will not be happy. Most professionals in the advertising industry are strategic thinkers they must sort thorough data identify what is critical, interpret the data and apply it correctly to drive business for clients or create new business for the company they work for. Creativity is important not just or the creative department but for the professionals within every department of the advertising company whether it be to create an attractive original advertising campaign or to solve a problem from a different angle, generate new business or find a better way of meeting deadlines, everyone in the industry must be somewhat creative. The key ingredient to running a successful advertising team is team work everyone in the industry must be able to work within a team setting and mesh well with others. In the advertising industry it is a highly stressful operation that must run smoothly to get advertising assembled and placed in the proper medium and in order to do this everyone within the team must work well together as a team.

If you have these traits and skills, with enthusiasm for the industry and drive to get yourself started you are a perfect professional for the advertising industry.
