There was once a time when instead of gathering around a television in the evening, families would instead gather around a radio. The radio told them everything they could ever want to know. There was news, there were radio shows, music, and there were even advertisements for products. Aside from the newspapers, this was the only way that families would be able to receive information regarding new products, though that would change eventually.

During the great depression, when America experienced a high rate of unemployment, people started to question whether or not radio advertisement was really doing its job. It was about this time that they started having famous celebrities do the advertising rather than regular people. You know very well the effect this has on people, and as do those in advertising jobs.

When a celebrity endorses any product, it seems to be the general reaction of the public to run out and purchase it, no matter what it is. Those in advertising jobs know this tactic well, and it worked just as well back then as it does now, perhaps even better.

Throughout the depression, individuals in advertising marketing jobs learned quickly. They learned the best ways to reach the public, even through audio. They fine tuned their methods, honed their skills and finally perfected the marketing process. But then they discovered that it was all for naught, because a new advertising medium opened itself up in the early 1950's. It was called the television.

With the introduction of the television, new methods of advertising had to be created. Teams had to be put together, and advertising jobs became much more common. These teams would include a copy writing team, a creative director, and art director, and many others. This is not to mention the filming crew and the television station itself. On top of that, television advertising itself was very expensive, but as the people in advertising marketing jobs soon found out, it also paid quite nicely.

But as we've demonstrated throughout this article, change is inevitable. With the introduction of the Internet came Internet advertising, meaning many of the old ways of advertising would quickly become void. On top of that brand new advertising tactics were introduced, and they had to be learned one by one. One of the more popular ones was SEO, or search engine optimization. This was a trick that would keep a website at the top of the popular search engines by utilizing the popular search terms of a given engine.

Advertising marketing jobs have definitely become much more difficult as of late. People have needed to learn new skills, and there are some who have fallen behind. Right now there are new college courses being introduced to keep up with the changing advertising schemes, and all kinds of new terms are being created. It's definitely hard to keep up with, and it's going to continue to become more complicated. The need to advertise to the masses is one that will always be present in the world, and it's never enough to have an amazing product. As unpredictable as the market has become, there is one thing that you can always count on-it will always change when you're not looking.
